"Marianne Landbrieff", a somewhat unwieldy title for a song. With the Hamburg band Dunya, however, these words unfold a very special mixture between humour and coolness. With a delightful and at the same time enchanting explanation for the title: drummer Lukas Tietkens lives near a former Hamburg wig studio that traded under this name. And when he sent a song sketch via his mobile phone, the device automatically saved the audio under this location. Dunya imagines herself reveling in this unknown person and creates a magnificent ode to the introvert. To the Marianne trenches below. "Marianne Landbrieff, why don't you let me in / And be a guest in your thoughts / I can't understand your language / I just think: you're beautiful!" sings Banu Şengül, while the guitar swings lightly and with the most beautiful obstinacy. "Marianne Landbrieff" is another preview of the debut album "Zaman", which will be released by the Wilhelmsburg label La Pochette Suprise. And the single is also one of the first songs that the quintet intones not in Turkish or English, but in German. Dunya (Turkish for "world") sees itself as an absolutely cosmopolitan band. Their songs oscillate poetically between psychedelic rock and dream pop, between oriental flow and herbaceous noise.
